Universities to establish Elite Engineering College in Kenya

"Tongji University, a prominent Chinese institution renowned for its expertise in architecture and civil engineering, is pursuing strategic partnerships with several key Kenyan universities to foster academic and research collaboration that will lead to establishment of Elite Engineering College in Kenya. 

The Kenyan universities in the project that is supported by the Chinese government within the framework of China -Africa cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative include University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Murang'a University, and Maasai Mara University.

The College will provide specialized training in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Artificial Intelligence. The Chinese Companies in the construction and transport Industry are expected to support the project being spearheaded by Tongji University and the Ministry of Education in Kenya.

A high-level delegation from Tongji University had earlier visited Kenya to explore opportunities for collaboration, conducting assessments of infrastructure and academic programs at selected Kenyan institutions.

The University of Nairobi, recognized for its strong engineering programs, formalized its commitment to collaborate with Tongji University on the establishment of Elite Engineering School by the signing of a letter of intent. This collaboration aims to facilitate academic exchange and advance scholarly.
